In Jinan, the capital city of eastern Shandong Province, a zipper truck cruises along the streets. It helps ease traffic jams by moving road barriers during rush hour.
The truck, originally a bus, travels at a slow speed.
In many cities such as Beijing, Nanjing, and Changsha, the idea of relocating traffic lanes to ease congestion is not new. However, the work is usually done manually and is laborious and time-consuming.
The most recent “innovative” new bus was supposed to ease congestion by letting cars drive underneath the bus — but it turned out to be all hype.
Hopefully, the zipper truck won’t be.
