Missing daughter in China reunites with family after 24 years

An emotional family reunion after 24 years went viral both at home and abroad.

The daughter, Kang Ying (born Wang Qifeng), now 28, went missing when she was 3 years old.

Her parents, who are fruitsellers, simply lost track of her on the street one day. Wang Mingqing and his wife, Liu Dengying, underwent an exhaustive search.

Wang became a taxi driver and distributed more than 10,000 flyers to passengers.

Their efforts finally paid off after Shandong Province police drew a sketch of her, which was seen by Kang Ying in a town 12 miles away.

A DNA test confirmed she was Wang and Liuโ€™s missing daughter. The familyโ€™s touching reunion was captured and reported nationwide.

In China, child trafficking and its relationship to adoption is a serious problem.

Even though there is no official figure for the number of missing children, academics estimate it could be somewhere between 20,000 to 200,000.
