UPDATE: The photo contest has ended. Thank you to everyone who submitted. We will announce the winners shortly.

We’ve received some great entries so far, but the competition is just heating up. There are just two days left in the first-ever The China Project Photo Contest. Show us your China story!

Click here to read about the contest. But here’s the gist of it:

How:ย Send 1-3 photos toย editors@thechinaproject.com. Please include a caption with some essential information, including:

  • WHERE was the photo taken?
  • WHAT is happening in the picture?
  • WHEN was it taken?
  • What inspired the photo?

The caption doesnโ€™t have to be long, but we wouldnโ€™t mind if you told us more rather than less.

Deadline: End of dayย August 15

Prizes:

Grand prize: $150 + aย year of free membership to SupAccess

First prize (3): A year of free membership to The China Project Access

Second prize (6): One month of membership to SupAccess

Rules:

This contest is free to enter. You must be the owner of the photographs submitted (i.e., must be the copyright holder or have been authorized to submit by the copyright holder). Please only send photos that have not previously appeared on commercial websites or publications.

By submitting, you grant The China Project permission to publish your photo across its platforms, with full credit via a personal byline.ย You will retain copyright of your work.

Please send unwatermarked photos whose shortest side is at least 800px. JPEG is preferable.

Polyptychs and stitched-together panoramas will likely not win.

The judges will be our editors (Jia Guo, Anthony Tao, Lucas Niewenhuis, Jiayun Feng, Jeremy Goldkorn) plusย Michael Yamashita, a former longtime National Geographic photographer โ€” the images on this post were taken by him โ€” whoseย Photo of the Dayย can be seen on The China Project.
