The U.S.-China trade war in the eyes of New Yorkers

Itโ€™s been one year since Donald Trump threatened to impose large-scale tariffs on China in March 2018. The first round of those tariffs went into effect in July, and the U.S. and China have been in a trade war ever since.

U.S. officials are scheduled to make a trip to China on Thursday for yet another round of trade talks. If no deal is reached, the U.S. has warned, an additional 10 percent tariff on $200 billion of Chinese goods and imports will be imposed.

Since his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has claimed that the trade war could serve as a means to reduce the trade disparity between the U.S. and China. However, many observers see the messy trade dispute as driven more by politics than by economics. Watch this video to find out more.
