Snow wonderlands in China

Just in time for the holiday season, many places across China received their first winter snowfall this week. We compiled some videos and photos of the snow scenes, from Xinjiang to Harbin to the provinces of Jilin and Zhejiang.

On December 12, heavy snow fell in Kanas Lake, Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang, turning the popular tourist attraction into a white wonderland. Rime ice was seen on the trees, and the rooftops were covered in snow.

This yearโ€™s Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival is scheduled to kick off on December 24 and will last until February 28, 2019. Held since 1963, the most popular ice festival in China draws millions of tourists each year. Hereโ€™s a sneak peak at this yearโ€™s upcoming attractions:

On December 3 in Jilin Province, people slid down slippery roads…and stairs.

And donโ€™t miss these stunning scenes in Zhejiang Province!
