Sunrise in Huangshan

The Huangshan mountain range, located in Anhui Province, is well known for its scenic features such as hot springs, pine trees, and the “sea of clouds,” or yunhai (云海 yúnhǎi). Watching sunset and sunrise is also a must-do if you tour Huangshan. The best locations for viewing are Refreshing Terrace, Lion Peak, and Purple Cloud Peak.

Michael Yamashita is an award-winning photographer who has been shooting for National Geographic magazine for more than 30 years. He specialized in Asia after spending seven years in the region following his graduation from Wesleyan University.
