A sacred mountain
Multicolored prayer flags adorn the slopes of Kawagebo Peak in Yunnan Province. The mountain, believed to be the spiritual home of the warrior god of Tibetan Buddhism from which it takes its name, draws an estimated 20,000 pilgrims a year, many of whom circle its 150-mile perimeter.
