Cowboys ride under a rainbow
Three cowboys wearing stetsons, chupas, and boots ride at the Nakchu Horse Racing Festival in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Many Tibetans treat horses with a spiritual reverence because the animal is indispensable to people’s lives. The festival, which falls on August 1 and lasts five to 15 days, is one of the most important gatherings in Northern Tibet.
