Dawn breaks over the Tibetan Plateau

A view from Zadoi in Qinghai Province of the Tibetan Plateau, the so-called roof of the world. It is the meeting point of the world’s tallest mountain ranges and origin of a number of great rivers in Asia, including the Yangtze, Mekong and Salween.

Michael Yamashita is an award-winning photographer who has been shooting for National Geographic magazine for more than 30 years. He specialized in Asia after spending seven years in the region following his graduation from Wesleyan University.
