Forbidden City in white

Beijing’s Forbidden City, which served as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government for almost 500 years, is covered with snow in the winter. The former Chinese imperial palace was the home of emperors and their households from the Ming dynasty (1420) to the end of the Qing dynasty (1912). Located in the center of Beijing, it was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987.
