Michael Yamashita

At the foot of Elephant Hill in Jade Water Village, Black Dragon Pool reflects a bridge and a traditional building. The village is eight miles from Lijiang Old Town, which is a well-preserved ancient town of the Naxi ethnic minority in Yunnan Province.

Michael Yamashita is an award-winning photographer who has been shooting for National Geographic magazine for more than 30 years. He specialized in Asia after spending seven years in the region following his graduation from Wesleyan University.
