Singing under heaven
A choir performs China’s national anthem in front of the First Pass Under Heaven, part of the Shanhaiguan section at the Great Wall’s eastern edge. The plaque on the tower is a copy of the original that was inscribed by Xiao Xian, a scholar of the Ming dynasty, with the phrase that gave the structure its name.
