Stampede of storied horses
A herd roams beneath the Qilian Mountains of Gansu Province at the Shandan Horse Ranch, which served as an important source of the animals for the military as far back as the Han dynasty and as recently as 2001. Today the farm breeds horses for equestrian purposes and also serves as a tourist attraction.
