A journey on the Silk Road with Michael Yamashita
Photographer Michael Yamashita speaks with The China Project about his Silk Road project.
Michael Yamashita has been a photographer for National Geographic magazine for more than 30 years. He embarked on a Silk Road photographic expedition in 1999 and spent eight years following in the footsteps of Marco Polo and the Ming dynasty mariner Zheng He, traveling through war zones, deserts, and mountains. His ensuing documentary, Marco Polo: The China Mystery Revealed, received two Asian Television and Film Awards. His Silk Road exhibits were major attractions in Asian cities, including Beijing and Singapore in 2016. See more of his work at his website.
