State media today: still snoozing

It’s still holiday time at central state media organizations in Beijing, so the top stories are mostly recycled pabulum.
- Xinhua is running with “From the planned economy to the market — 40 years of socialist market economy construction revealed” as the top story on its Chinese website. It’s a mash-up of slogans about the socialism and Chinese characteristics together with promises to let the “market play a decisive role” in China’s economy.
- The People’s Daily is Belt and Roading it with a story marking the fifth year since the announcement of Xi Jinping’s signature project: The great project of constructing a shared community for humanity (in Chinese).
- The Global Times seems to be a little more awake, with a new piece titled China’s offshore areas not stage for US’ unilateral show of force in English. Click here for the Chinese version.
