Global Times: Keep calm and carry on
Central state media websites today all highlight this story: China, Philippines upgrade relations, sign MOU to advance Belt and Road construction (in Chinese here).
One of three top stories from the nationalist rag Global Times is a commentary (in Chinese) titled: “U.S. plans to expand technology export restrictions, China needs to remain calm.” Translated excerpt:
We would like to remind the Chinese people that the U.S. has been introducing impulsive plans for some time now. In the face of American fury, we need to remain calm. The expansion of U.S. export restrictions on China appears to be part of a general trend, but…it is uncertain to what extent the restrictions will actually be implemented. From our point of view, there is no need to confront the U.S. on this matter. Our determination to open up to the outside world cannot be shaken by this.
