The year 2019 might become when China completely and utterly loses its soft-power mojo.
The latest example: Even the Canadians are feeling uneasy. Jonathan Manthorpe, a foreign affairs columnist and author of Claws of the Panda: Beijing’s Campaign of Influence and Intimidation in Canada, was interviewed by CBC. Among his numerous statements, one of the more amusing is that the Canadian government has sent “a steady stream of useful idiots” as diplomats to engage with China.
