A note from the editor of today's The China Project Access newsletter.

editor's note for Access newsletter

My thoughts today:

โ€œThousands of partygoersย packed out a water park over the weekend in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the coronavirus first emerged late last year, keen to party as the city edges back to normal life,โ€ reports Agence France-Presse, presenting this โ€” for those of us still stuck in COVID-19 lockdowns โ€” eye-popping video.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Americaโ€™s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, called onย โ€œthe National Basketball Association (NBA) to prioritize its โ€˜commitment to social justice over profitsโ€™ by ending all collaboration with the Chinese Communist Party until the government ceases its ongoing campaign of genocide against the countryโ€™s Uyghur Muslim minority.โ€

Our word of the dayย is Railway departments are resolutely implementing the central governmentโ€™s โ€˜six stabilizationsโ€™ and โ€˜six guaranteesโ€™:ย ้“่ทฏ้ƒจ้—จๅšๅ†ณ่ดฏๅฝป่ฝๅฎžไธญๅคฎโ€œๅ…ญ็จณโ€ โ€œๅ…ญไฟโ€ tiฤ›lรน bรนmรฉn jiฤnjuรฉ guร nchรจ luรฒshรญ zhลngyฤng โ€œliรน wฤ›nโ€ โ€œliรน bวŽoโ€ (see Chinaโ€™s railways are buzzing with activity, especially those connecting to Europe).
