Editor’s note for Tuesday, October 6, 2020
A note from the editor of today's The China Project Access newsletter.

My thoughts today:
Just one thought: Given the plunging global reputation of the United States (see our top story today), can Washington persuade Australia, India, and Japan to make common cause against China? Outside of the Quad, by which an informal alliance between those countries is known, can Mike Pompeo persuade anyone at all to make common cause with the United States?
Probably.
Despite the historically negative global opinion of Trumpโs United States, the world does not seem too fond of Xi Jinpingโsย China either. ย
And a quick plug for the Sustainable Asia podcast, whichย has launched a new season, produced in partnership with the Wilson Center’s China Environment Forum and China Dialogue, with episodes in both Mandarinย and English. Much of the new series is about seas and oceans, from Antarctica to Chinese territorial waters. You can also find the podcast season with written background features in English and Mandarin on the China Dialogue Oceanย website.
Our word of the dayย is Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (ๅๆนๅฎๅ จๅฏน่ฏ sรฌfฤng ฤnquรกn duรฌhuร ).
