A note from the editor of today's The China Project Access newsletter.

editor's note for Access newsletter

My thoughts today:

โ€œRed New Dealโ€ is a new phrase weโ€™ve been knocking around at The China Project to describe Xi Jinpingโ€™s multi-pronged crackdown on business, technology, and culture, and the many related new policies intended to reduce the power of business titans, ameliorate social inequality, and head off ideological and political challenges to the Communist Party.

What do you think of the phrase? And do you have any questions about the Red New Deal? Weโ€™re preparing a Sinica podcast on the subject to be recorded this Friday, and an ongoing series of articles, and Iโ€™d love to hear your opinions and questions.

Upcoming events:

The China Project is hiring! The role requires experience in growth for a news media company. Shoot me a note if you’re interested and I’ll connect you with our COO to talk more, or apply here.
