Editor’s note for January 10, 2023
A note for Access newsletter readers from Jeremy Goldkorn.
My thoughts today:
Firstly, an apology and a correction: Yesterday’s word of the day was Whirlwind Guo (郭旋风 Guō Xuànfēng), an old nickname for a senior Chinese financial regulator whose real name is Guō Shùqīng 郭树清. For some reason, we completely botched every single tone in his name in our pinyin rendition yesterday.
Secondly, here are the official public holidays for the rest of the year (per the Chinese government), and some words of the day:
- Chinese New Year (春节 chūnjié): January 21-27
- Tomb Sweeping Festival (清明节 qīngmíng jié): April 5
- Labor Day (劳动节 láodòng jié): April 29-May 3
- Dragon Boat Festival (端午节 duānwǔ jié): June 22-24
- Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节 zhōngqiū jié) and National Day (国庆节 guóqìng jié): September 29-October 6
