Editor’s note for Tuesday, September 7, 2021
A note from the editor of today's The China Project Access newsletter.

My thoughts today:
โRed New Dealโ is a new phrase weโve been knocking around at The China Project to describe Xi Jinpingโs multi-pronged crackdown on business, technology, and culture, and the many related new policies intended to reduce the power of business titans, ameliorate social inequality, and head off ideological and political challenges to the Communist Party.
What do you think of the phrase? And do you have any questions about the Red New Deal? Weโre preparing a Sinica podcast on the subject to be recorded this Friday, and an ongoing series of articles, and Iโd love to hear your opinions and questions.
Upcoming events:
- September 16: How to use your China skills to land a job at a think tank
- September 22: On China trade policy, states want more cooperation, less confrontation
The China Project is hiring! The role requires experience in growth for a news media company. Shoot me a note if you’re interested and I’ll connect you with our COO to talk more, or apply here.
