Coal production at record high: According to the National Energy Administration, Chinaโ€™s national coal output from January to November was 4.09 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%, or 360 million tons, and a record high.

VW SUV to be made (but not sold) in China: VW announced yesterday that the Tavascan, an โ€œall-electric coupe SUVโ€ manufactured by VW sub-brand Cupra, will be produced at VW Anhui, the groupโ€™s electric vehicle joint venture in China, but there are no plans for the vehicle to be sold in China.

The China Energy Storage Alliance says 165 energy storage projects were announced in November with a total scale of 44.4 gigawatts (GW), an increase of 36% compared to October. New energy storage, including lithium-ion batteries and compressed air, accounted for 14.4 GW of the total.

A list of Chinaโ€™s leading entrepreneurs aged below 30 was released by the Hurun Research Institute. The list contains 283 individuals from 256 companies, 79% of whom are male and 21% female. On average, they have each raised more than 40 million yuan ($5.75 million) before the age of 30.
