My thoughts today:
Teachers in the boomtown of Shenzhen are having their salaries cut and there are plenty of other signs of financial distress at local governments across China, which we look at in our top story today (scroll down for a summary or click through for the whole thing).
It looks bad. But we should be careful of overinterpreting what may turn out to be a short-term period of economic pain that will end as the country picks up speed again, now that COVID zero is truly dead.
