Editor’s note for May 19, 2023

A note for Access newsletter readers from Jeremy Goldkorn.

I grew up in South Africa in the 1970s and ‘80s, when cars made by Toyota and Datsun (which became Nissan) were so familiar that I did not know they were manufactured by Japanese companies.

In the next decade, children all over the world will go to school in electric vehicles made by Chinese companies, and won’t ever think of their origins. We’ve compiled a directory of the 15 companies that look set to make the cars that those children will ride in. Click through to The China Project for the full list, or scroll down for a soundbite summary, and much more.
