57 oil spills in three years: According to a new paper by a Ministry of Natural Resources official and a Nanjing University academic, satellites recorded a total of 57 oil spill incidents in Chinaโ€™s coastal waters from December 29 2018 to August 31 2021, mostly in the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, and the South China Sea.

1,384 new crops: The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has announced the approval of 1,384 new varieties of rice, corn, cotton, and soybeans, including high quality rice varieties; corn varieties suitable for mechanized harvesting, steaming, and popping; and soybeans suitable for oil production.
