57 oil spills in three years: According to a new paper by a Ministry of Natural Resources official and a Nanjing University academic, satellites recorded a total of 57 oil spill incidents in Chinaโs coastal waters from December 29 2018 to August 31 2021, mostly in the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, and the South China Sea.
1,384 new crops: The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has announced the approval of 1,384 new varieties of rice, corn, cotton, and soybeans, including high quality rice varieties; corn varieties suitable for mechanized harvesting, steaming, and popping; and soybeans suitable for oil production.
